CONNECTING THE CLASSROOM TO THE REALWORLD..
ALLOWING STUDENTS TO BECOME ACTIVE LEARNERS.
Service-Learning is an important way of connecting the classroom to the community through meaningful service. Students are able to become active participants in the learning process by using what they learn to Solve real life problems.
"Maggi is unconventional and at first I wondered if I was going to be successful. But what she does is - she gave us the history and foundation of art by having us copy classic pieces, and she talks to us about methods and attitude. But she empowers us! She never made us feel that we would get it wrong. She told us the most important parts; like, start off light, don't paint by numbers and if you make a mistake, you can blend it in and fix it and it might just become the best part of the painting. And most important - she reminded us that
art is about being yourself."
